creating boundless space in our lives

Illusions

Eckhart Tolle says that whenever we find ourselves defending something, we are defending an illusion. This is because our pure, true self doesn’t need any defending. It simply is. Nothing else needs to be added to it. It is when we add something (or someone) to the pureness of our being that we lose ourselves. We are constantly fighting life because we want to preserve forms or illusions, which don’t last very long. This drives us to despair, depression, stress, nervous breakdown, and other diseases. We take refuge in drugs, alcohol, eating, shopping, etc., which only give us temporary relief. Once their effects wear off, we are back to experiencing the negative, destructive feelings.

How can we stop this insanity? We start by letting life unfold before our eyes without getting involved. We watch people, events, or drama come and go.We become friendly with whatever is happening at the present moment. We create space in our lives so the universe can take care of us. We realize that once we stop fighting what is and let the universe take over, life becomes gentle and kind. We become free of illusions and are able to feel our pure selves. We become open to the beauty of life.
